The Earth as Lover is a subtitle of the new book by Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens. We borrow their words to give a name to their presentation. Yes, you hear right. Love wins as always and real dreams come true.
Real physical Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens, those queens of Sexecology are arriving from California to Europe and on their European tour, and they are joining us in Prague for a public presentation and private workshop for students of AVU New Media 2 and our guests from Academy of Fine Arts Banská Bystrica, University for Applied Arts Vienna, and Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan. The event will be held in English.
Beth Stephens and Annie Sprinkle have been creating multi-media art projects about love, sex, and queerness together for 20 years. Annie was a sex worker from 1973 to 1995 and morphed into a feminist performance artist and sex educator.
Beth was a sculptor and installation artist and became a university art professor. She has taught at the University of California Santa Cruz for 27 years.
These days, the duo produce environmentally-themed films through an eco-sexual gaze, they host symposiums, and do theatre and performance artivism. Their Ecosex Manifesto launched the Ecosex Movement. They are making a new film about fire, for which they received a 2021 Guggenheim Fellowship.
A new book, Assuming the Ecosexual Position—the Earth as Lover (University of Minnesota Press) chronicles their epic love story and art/life adventures. View their work at www.sprinklestephens.org
