The Russian invasion of Ukraine, a major escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War, which had started already in 2014, is the largest and deadliest conflict in Europe since World War II. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, with their 45 years long experience of humiliation and oppression by Moscow, have been some of the most significant supporters of Ukraine following the invasion. The Baltic countries are taking an active role in strengthening defence on the NATO eastern flank. The European Commission stresses the need for the EU to be able to defend and protect itself in an increasingly tense world.

What are the lessons we can learn from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania?

The participants of the panel debate are:

H.E. Ms Gita Kalmet, Ambassador of Estonia

H.E. Mr Rolandas Kačinskas, Ambassador of Lithuania

H.E. Mr Vilmars Heninš, Ambassador of Latvia

Moderator: Tomáš Brolík, Respekt magazine
