The exhibition project entitled Art is already a Bore will present the work of approximately 45 contemporary authors who went through the Milan Knížák Intermedia School during their academic education at the AVU in Prague.
Does art mean teaching a person to live? Knížák asks already in 1964 inthe text of the action lecture Why exactly? This question also characterizes his pedagogical approach, in which he emphasized the learning process and the connection of art with human life. The Intermediate School was characterized by assigning individual tasks that resembled intellectual exercises.
These tasks resembled puzzles and encouraged students to make mistakes and try unknown solutions. Their goal was not so much the work, but the path to it. The concept of the exhibition Art is already a Bore is focused on contemporary works, diversity of approaches and themes across three generations of former students and teachers of the Intermediate School in relation to today. The exhibition should feature works by publicly recognized authors, artists at the beginning of their journey, but also those who exhibit only sporadically outside of frequented galleries or not at all.
