Hybrid Sessions is a monthly series at Kampus Hybernská. We feature an opening improvised duo set with two musicians coming from different backgrounds to form a new constellation. Afterwards, we host a jam session open to all musicians, regardless of background. We want to create an open environment where musicians feel free to be creative in the moment, nothing is predetermined and the only expectation is a high level of presence. A basic backline will be provided.
This time, saxophonist and violinist Jan Michálek and electromagist Daniel Kordík will perform.
- Jan Michalek (saxophone, violin, synthesizers) is an improviser living in Prague and Lisbon. On the domestic scene you can know Jan from the septet Uthando, which released two records with the Ma Records label. Currently, his active projects are the electroacoustic duo HONCO with percussionist Marco Aleixo, dealing with interaction with physical space, amplification and effects of acoustic instruments. Furthermore, the motion-sound duo Meadow Frogs, which has already had successful residencies and performances in Spain and Portugal, or the Prague duo Ovčí Hájek with Jan Karhanek on synthesizers.
- It's music Daniel Kordik oscillates between free improvisation, electronic compositions and field recordings. In 2001, he co-founded the collective Urbsounds and musical project Jamka, whose track 'Wild Rose Trees' became part of 'An Anthology Of Noise & Electronic Music' kompi.
