From 1 July 2022, for the second time, we are taking over from France the Presidency of all 27 Member States of the Council of the EU. The helm will be handed over to Sweden at the end of the year. Can we handle our task? Is Brussels dictating to us? Doesn't it take away our powers and competencies?
Thanks to the Presidency, other issues are also opening up. Why are we among the countries with low trust in European institutions? What is the position of the young generation on the issue of the EU? CPPT UK at the Hybernská Campus has prepared a series of six in-depth debates, linked by the title #ÚkolEvropa.
Every Monday evening a month, moderator Martina Mašková (ČRo) will ask questions to three speakers — experts, representatives of the academic community and students. However, all those who will follow us on the Internet can contribute directly to the debate with their questions.The first of the series will analyze how the Czech Presidency advertisement in 2009 was filled with the description “We will sweeten Europe”. What did our representation at the time succeed and what did not?
The questions will be answered by Minister of European Affairs and UK graduate Mikuláš Bek, former Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the EU Milena Vicenová and European Studies student Adéla Chamrádová at FSV UK.
