The joint exhibition of the painter Martin Matoušek (September 30, 1976, Hořice v Podkrkonoší) and Martin Bobek (June 25, 1985, Třebíč) is a meeting of authors whose speech complements each other thanks to a common means of expression, which is an edge, and thanks to the same material which they both occasionally use, which is concrete.
Matoušek and Bobek move in an area called abstraction. On the contrary, they clearly differ in their approach to it: it serves Matoušek to underline individual expression, emphasizing the uniqueness of each image, Bobek to apply the developing system of similar geometric structures, incorporated into a higher, general whole. While Matoušek's starting point is still a sensory experience, inherent somewhere in the background of his work, which may not be reflected in his own image, Bobek's is a system of acquiring or declining shapes, opening up endless shape variability, the source of which was originally related to empty interior space. While Matoušek's large paintings occasionally penetrate characters referring to various stimuli, Bobek's objects are based on the contrast of real natural resources, recently replaced by natural light, and fixed order, as if these opposite components could not be without each other, at most one is muted at the expense the second. "Species" contain various classes and formations, resulting in a type into which subversive life penetrates.
Open Mon-Fri 9AM-9PM, Sat 10AM-8PM
Martin Bobek * 25. 6. 1985, Třebíč In the years 2010–2016, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague Sculpture Studio II/school Henry Zeithamml. In his work, he focuses largely on geometry, as a means of approaching his own expression. Influence on nature and architecture is connected with certain randomness and intuitive development of the work. In terms of material, it leans most towards concrete and wood but does not exclude others. For some objects, it uses forms dug into the ground. These "artifacts" most support the randomness of the external result, here the emphasis is also on the internal space.
Martin Matoušek * 30. 9. 1976, Hořice v Podkrkonoší He has been living and working in Prague since 2008. In his work, he focuses on landscape painting, where he transforms reality towards abstract planes through the controlled disintegration of the known. Through this process of translation and re-arrangement of the found abstract points, Matoušek creates new versions of what is known within the characteristic manuscript using various media. Disinformation illusions then appear in the paintings in terms of content and form.
